Nestled in the heart of the Sussex countryside, founder & sculptor Simon Groves takes his inspiration from the world around him as well as his imagination and dreams from his childhood days growing up.
By taking these ideologies and converting them into playscapes, Simon creates imaginative environments for children's imaginations to thrive.

After the initial concept drawing phase the design templates were drawn up, each playscape built from these designs is handmade, no bulk factory production here! This also means no two playscapes are exactly the same.
Built entirely of various types of timber each piece is hand sculpted, carved, shaped, trimmed, sanded, preserved, stained or painted giving the necessary desired effect.
That's right, even the sections of stone are made from wood!

Due to the processes and care taken with each build, some larger
playscapes can require up to 600 hours of workshop production time spent on them!

The choices of wood used for the structures allow for lots of adventurers to be playing at any one time without any need for concern over the playscapes structural integrity.
The use of construction grade materials also ensures a long-lasting product, even in the harshest of English weather!

If owning a 1-of-1 playscape isn't quite enough, Simon is more than happy to discuss possibilities of further customisation or personalised extras to compliment your build.

These can range from custom ship's plaque's displaying the family name to a handmade, wall mounted coat-of-arms to hang in your castle!

Concept drawings such as these pictured are first created for each new design, ensuring that the imagination is captured from every angle.

Once the concept drawings are completed the playscape will then enter the design phase, ensuring that the safety and design of the playscape will comply with play guidelines while still incorporating as much creativity from the concept drawing as possible.
This stage can take quite some time as Simon wants to ensure his vision is realised while still being a practical development, well suited for any home garden.

It is recommended that you check with local planning laws and regulations prior to purchase of any Groves Wooden Worlds playscape. These checks are the sole responsibility of the purchaser.
